Your information is clear and amazingly simple. However I am old as dirt and dum asa rock. I see you (anonymous) were kind to send to (another) anonymous, perhaps explicit instructions. I see thatI failed in some respects to uninstall certain functions before upgrading and find my laptop in a pinch. I did download a few copies of Vista ISO and have no idea how to create an installation DVD.

I have SD cards, USB stick, CD and DVD's with which to do so. Scared though because I had a new ASUS built for Vista (I think) but preinstalled with Win7. Was a kiosk demo model on sale. I got a prompt to upgrade BIOS and it is frozen, maybe keyboard locked (unresponsive) with black screen and no cursor. Your excellent instructions saved my skin.I had installed Linux Mint 15 as a dual boot to my Dell Windows Vista machine. After rebooting I was unable to boot Vista, and even from Linux Mint it was saying that Windows partitions were corrupt and needed to run 'chkdsk /f' to recover the situation. That means that all personal documents, music and pictures were now lost.
