I tried to do this and they made me schedule a visit anyway, because hey it's free and apparently it takes a certified tech to plug a modem in. I set it up myself and canceled the visit anyway. They proceeded to cut off my cable. After two days and four phone calls I finally managed to speak with someone who could flip the magic switch and restore my service. Of course now my bill was $30 a month more than I had signed up for initially. Two months later, it was finally straightened out and they generously gave me a one time $15 credit for all of my troubles. AT&T needs to up their Internet game so I can give them my business.

And yeah I'm still a little pissed. Signed up yesterday.
